The Z
Space Studio Theater Development
Center presents Word for Word,
short stories and fiction writing
literally "word for word," a new way for
audience members to glimpse the first
steps of transforming a story from the
page to the stage. Through March
30: Immortal Heart on Tour,
Word for Word's smash hit by novelist Amy
Tan, directed by Delia MacDougal.
Winter 2006: 4 Adverbs, a
world premiere Word for Word show and an
evening with the author Daniel Handler,
a.k.a. Lemony Snicket, author of the famed
Series of Unfortunate Events for children.
The show presents four stories taken from
his new adult novel Adverbs, forthcoming

Playwrights'
Center of San Francisco 2006 presents
Scene Nights on Tuesdays, 7:30. Members
free/non-members $5-$10 if you wish to
have a scene read. Playwrights of all
experience and style can attend these
readings to experience a full production
earlier in the writing process. The
playwright is able to select the readers
from whoever is in attendance (usually
several capable actors). After the
reading, a critique emphasizes the
strengths and possibilities. Scenes must
be no more than ten pages of properly
formatted script. Actors are paid $10 for
Scene Night. If you'd like to sign up for
a night of cold-reading, e-mail Andy
