The Capitola Book Café is undergoing a new business model, splitting into a for-profit retail bookseller and a non-profit education and outreach organization, the Kick-Off Party marks the start of a six-week transition, party includes live music by Windy Hill and ZunZun, a silent auction sponsored by local artisans, door prizes, complimentary sangria, beer and appetizers, Capitola Book Café, 1475 41st Avenue, Capitola, $10, kids under 12 free, 3:00-6:00 (831/462-4415, capitolabookcafe.com)
