The Mechanics' Institute presents nonfiction writer Lawrence Weschler, Mr Wilson's Cabinet of Wonders, discussing his new book, A Trove of Zohars, an investigative tale that begins when Weschler tracks down Stephen Berkman, who claims to have discovered a trove of work by Shimmel Zohar, a photographer who chronicled the Jewish immigrant community in the Lower East Side during the nineteenth century, Mechanics' Institute, 57 Post Street, San Francisco, free for members, public sliding scale $5-$10, 6:00 pm PST (Register to attend: www.milibrary.org/events/trove-zohars-onsite-mechanics-institute-jan-12-2023)
