CalPoets' 2023 Statewide Symposium kicks off with a dinner and creative writing workshop led by Cesar Avelar, Poet Laureate of Pomona and author of God of the Air Hose; come for a weekend of poetry readings and workshops, open to the public and aimed at literary teaching artists, both new and experienced, workshops will focus on the theme "The Poetics of Connection," and how poetry can bring communities together and encourage growth, overnight lodgings are available but limited, ticket prices vary $65-$395, depending on lodgings and meals, with special pricing for active poet-teachers, Cal Poly Pomona, 3801 W.
